Firstly….
I had my 20week ultrasound the other day. Having convinced myself that the baby was a little girl I was surprised to find out that in fact…..
The same day I went out to buy something boyish and I have to say that I was more than a little disappointed in the range of boys clothing available. I came to the conclusion that if I wanted something I liked I would either have to spend thousands of dollar at boutique European online shops or I’d have to make something myself. With a little trepidation I picked up my crochet hook for the first time in over 3 months (the morning sickness is still lingering and I find the motion of crocheting makes it worse). I found this free crochet pattern via Pintrest and decided to give it a go:
Oh how I’d forgotten how much I LOVE crochet. Sometimes I get too caught up in the end result and I forget how much I enjoy the actual process of making. There is nothing more satisfying than making something with your bare hands.
I found the bunny rabbit image on the internet and printed it onto transfer paper and ironed it onto the little onesie. God bless Creative Commons.
I altered the original pattern somewhat but you can find my project notes on Raverly here.
To celebrate I’m also working on a few baby boy patterns like this knit-look pixie bonnet so stay tuned…
Yay! Love this pattern, can’t wait to see some nice boy crochet patterns too!
With two boys in my house, I can’t wait to see what you come up with. Congratulations with the baby. And by the way, boys rock!
Can’t wait to see the bonnet! My son is 10. Months and it is hard to find really cute stuff for the little guys!
You’re back! glad to hear you’re safe and well. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with next.
Congratulations! I found you through Flickr and love your crochet designs. This outfit for a boy is lovely! You sound exactly like me–with my second baby I found out I was expecting a boy at 20 weeks and was disappointed I couldn’t find anything nice for boys that wasn’t covered in sports logos, dinosaurs, trucks etc. and couldn’t afford to buy the lovely outfits from the European shops, so I resorted to making some things myself. Look forward to seeing some more of your beautiful designs!
If you have time, could you share your link to the pattern of the bonnet you posted with your “it’s a boy” picture?! I LOVE it!!
I’m not sure how to navigate your website on my phone (sorry)!
Hi there! Unfortunately there is no pattern for the hat, I just made it up based on the cardigan 🙁 Sorry.
Could you link me to your bonnet pattern?
I just found your page so I’m not sure on navigating it so please forgive me!!
I love your work!! It’s perfect!
